Years ago you could only find sophisticated weather stations at the National Weather Service or your local television station. This is no longer the case as people all across the country are now investing in a weather station of their own. Some people might ask, why would I get a weather station when I can just watch it on the news? The answer is simple, because many times the weather conditions can vary dramatically from those at the closest airport.
You don't have to be an extreme hobbyist to enjoy the benefits of getting your own personal weather station. Pricing in the last few years and has become much more reasonable so that the average backyard hobbyist can afford one of their own. Here are some things to look out for:

Even some of the cheaper models include software and computer interfaces that will help you log your local weather conditions onto your PC.
How hard is it to install? Not very difficult at all. This is especially the case on the new wireless weather stations. 3-4 hours on a sunny afternoon should do the trick.
